Terracotta tiles are a quite tricky to work with as they need competent cleaning as strong chemicals can effect them negatively. The sealing processes are also quite extensive to give them the vibrant look as seen in the pic above. However once finished professionally they look amazing.

How do we clean Terracotta tiles ?

We prefer a detailed hand clean of the tiles that makes use of steam power and monitored chemicals after thorough testing has been carried out to see the effects of the chosen process. These tiles are quite sensitive and so a hand process of cleaning allows one to see how things are going on a tile by tile basis. This also allows us to really scrub and clean the grout lines.

How do we seal and wax Terracotta tiles?

There are different ways to finish these tiles but the method used in the pic above which really brought out the colour was a more traditional approach whereby boiled linseed oil was used as a primer. Then once fully dried we finished it off with modern acrylic topical waxes that add an attractive shine and depth to the terracotta tiles

The finishing process is quite extensive for these tiles but there are less extensive faster drying options for finishing if access is going to be a problem.
