Victorian hallway tiles waxing service

Its very important to apply sealers and waxes to these tiles once they have been cleaned and stripped. They look pretty flat once all the old waxes have been drawn out so we apply impregnating colour enhancing sealers and acrylic waxes to revitalise them and protect them.

Finding Replacement tiles

We advise clients to retain any tiles that have come loose for use in the restoration work. We have to prepare the original tiles for use but they look good when we blend them with new reproduction ones when repairing damaged sections.

We use the new ones made by Original Style and Olde English and try to work them in to the repairs. We find the waxing does also help to blend them in better.

How I clean Victorian tiles?

From the pic above you can see most of the tiles have come absolutely clean. I use deep penetrating detergents and allot of steam to draw everything out. Its a hand scrubbing detailed process so it can be a bit time consuming. Rotary floor machines being used by themselves will not get them as clean as hand scrubbing and steaming. However on occasion I do use machinery to condition the surface and remove heavy contamination
